A leading contemporary dance group is set to perform at The Bowes Museum on June 26.

Eliot Smith Dance is staging two separate works which include a revival of a classic performance and a debut presentation at its performance at 7pm.

The classic piece is Paul Taylor's 'DUET,' first performed in 1964 and being brought back by ESD after 20 years of its last UK performance.

ESD dancers Rowan Parker and Yamit Salazar will portray a love story beautifully executed to the tune of Franz Josef Haydn's music.

Alongside this, ESD will also present 'HUMAN', a new work by Eliot Smith, the company's creative director.

The performance will feature Yamit Salazar, North East Culture Awards 2023 Performing Artist of the Year finalist.

'HUMAN' portrays the nuances of human emotions through contemporary and commercial dancing, set to powerful music by ESD’s composer, Adam Johnson.

Eliot Smith said: "At the beginning of this year, ESD visited Paul Taylor Dance Company at their home in New York City to study Paul Taylor’s exquisite DUET on two of ESD dancers with thanks to our Crowdfunder generous supporters.

"It’s been 20 years since a Taylor work has been performed in the UK and therefore ESD is delighted to re-introduce audiences to ESD’s premiere of Taylor’s 1964 DUET.

"All of this for people to enjoy at their local museum."
