Elizabeth Chambers Reflects on 'Trauma' She Faced amid Armie Hammer Scandal in 'Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise' Trailer
"Even in paradise, it’s hard to know who you can trust," Chambers teases in the trailer for the upcoming Freeform series 'Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise'
Elizabeth Chambers knows all too well what it's like to have trouble in paradise.
In the new trailer for the upcoming Freeform series Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, the BIRD Bakery founder, 41, shares how the Caribbean island became an escape amid her divorce from actor Armie Hammer.
"Grand Cayman has been a sanctuary for me,” she explains. “I moved here with my husband and children three years ago but things have changed since then."
She adds: “Even in paradise, it’s hard to know who you can trust.”

In July 2020, Chambers filed for divorce from Hammer, citing irreconcilable differences. Months later, Hammer, 37, was entrenched in controversy after messages allegedly from the actor detailing violent sexual fantasies were leaked online. He was later accused of rape, which he denied. (Los Angeles County prosecutors declined to charge him after an investigation, citing insufficient evidence.)
Later in the clip, the Sugar Showdown judge shares that she is ready to move on after her headline-making divorce from the Hammer after 10 years of marriage.
“A lot of the trauma I have experienced in the past two years is behind me. I went through a very public divorce. It was riddled with scandal,” she says as headlines are shown from the couple’s split.

However, the drama is far from over for Chambers. She and her costar Courtney McTaggart argue about her ex-husband’s alleged infidelity. McTaggart says, “Elizabeth thought I was one of Armie’s chicks.”
She then tells Chambers: "You're accusing me of sleeping with your ex-husband."
"No one is saying Armie Hammer is a saint, but there could be a lot more to the story than people know," McTaggart teases.

Chambers was upset that Hammer was still at the center of the conversation, saying, "I hate this. Why are we making it about Armie?"
She later adds that she is the only one who knows “the truth” about the scandal.
But, McTaggart believes the couple fell victim to “the Cayman curse,” explaining, “People move to the island with their significant other. It never lasts.”
