Elliott Whitehead's Super League intentions clear after securing return

Elliott Whitehead is ready to deliver success to Catalans Dragons after completing his return to the club. His return to Super League has finally been confirmed, with the back-rower returning to the Dragons almost a decade since leaving to join Canberra Raiders in the NRL.

An England international since 2014, Whitehead has decided to end his career in Super League and with the Dragons, where he established himself as one of the competition's top players before heading to Australia. He made 165 Super League appearances, scoring 60 tries.

The Dragons have developed considerably since his departure from the club, winning a Challenge Cup, a League Leaders' Shield as well as participating in two Super League Grand Finals. Having now agreed to return to the club, he hopes to contribute to further success.

He said: "Having seen how Catalan have grown since I left I can’t wait to come back and hopefully help bring some more success to the south of France."

Whitehead is set to be joined at the club by Luke Keary, who Rugby League Live revealed last month was set to U-turn on retirement to join the Dragons, while they have already confirmed the signings of Tommy Makinson, Nick Cotric and Oli Partington.

Head coach Steve McNamara, who coached Whitehead during his England career, added: "Elliott is a great signing for the Dragons. His quality, experience and leadership will be a huge asset for us. His rugby league instincts and intuition are things you cannot coach. We look forward to his arrival in 2025."
