The family of a murdered teenager have paid a further emotional tribute.

Ellis Cox was fatally shot on the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree on the evening of Sunday, June 23. After being treated by paramedics at the scene, he was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The 19-year-old's family said Ellis had "big dreams" and "so much more living to do".

In an emotional tribute, they said: “Ellis was the best little brother to Ethan. Wise beyond his years. He adored his two nieces and in turn they loved their kind, gentle and funny uncle. They have been robbed of their amazing uncle at just 19 years old: he had so much more living to do.

“Ellis dreamt of travelling. He had big dreams and wasn't afraid to vocalise them, and he was determined to build an amazing life for himself. Hard working, down the earth and so kind to everyone he met and would help anyone. His kind heart and beautiful soul is missed beyond any comprehension and our lives will never be the same again."

The family urged anyone with information to speak to police, no matter how big or small they feel it is.

They added: “We need your help and will continue to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward. The smallest piece of information could lead to bringing those responsible to justice because now this is all we can do for our Ellis. We are so grateful to the police and know as well as taking care of us they are working so hard to find those responsible.”

On July 8, police investigating Ellis's murder made two arrests. They arrested an 18 year-old man of no fixed abode on suspicion of murder and a 17 year-old boy from West Derby on suspicion of murder, possession of a Section 1 firearm, and possession of cannabis. They have been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

Merseyside Police said the public can visit a dedicated web page to submit information or footage which can help in the investigation of Ellis’s murder: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/05MP23M53-PO1
