Elon Musk reveals truth about his horrifyingly long working hours
Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk has outspoken views on working hours, having once said, ‘nobody ever changed the world on 40 hours a week.’
But this week, the billionaire revealed more details of his working hours – and he certainly practices what he preaches.
When asked if he really worked 90 hours and a seven day week, Musk replied, ‘In recent years, hours were much higher.
‘Don’t recommend though — bad for health & happiness. But no choice or Tesla would die. Hope to reduce to 80 hours next year.’

A recent survey of 3,000 employees in eight countries including Britain found that nearly half thought they could finish work in five hours a day without interruption – but that most are working more than 40 hours a week anyway.
Musk previously said that he had worked up to 120 hours a week during difficult times at Tesla in an interview with the Recode podcast.

Musk said, ‘There were times when, some weeks … I don’t know. I haven’t counted exactly, but I would just sort of sleep for a few hours, work, sleep for a few hours, work, seven days a week.
‘It is incredibly difficult to survive as a car company. Incredibly difficult. People have no idea how much pain people at Tesla went through, including myself. It was excruciating.’
