Elvis star Austin Butler wasn't asked back for Zoey 101 sequel movie
Elvis star Austin Butler has revealed that he wasn't asked back for the upcoming Zoey 101 sequel movie.
Before shooting to fame in Hollywood for his performance as the King of Rock 'n' Roll, as well as scooping the awards for Best Actor at the 2023 Golden Globes and BAFTAs, Butler got his acting start with some minor roles on Nickelodeon.
One of those roles was James Garrett, the brief love interest of Zoey Brooks (Jaimie Lynn Spears) in the fourth season of Zoey 101.

Pretty much all the original cast members are set to reprise their respective roles for the movie (which is currently titled Zoey 102), but Butler didn't get the call.
"I haven't heard anything about that. I don't know," he revealed on Variety's Awards Circuit podcast.
There are no hard feelings, though, as the Dune 2 actor added: "I'm so grateful for all those stepping stones that I had throughout my career. Zoey 101 was a big turning point for me, because it was the first time I was ever a series regular on a show, so I got to be part of an entire season."

He continued: "I remember getting my first line on a TV show, and that was huge for me. You have all these different moments that are pivotal for you, but now I'm just going after whatever story resonates with me or whatever director or actors that I really want to work with."
As well as Spears, Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews), Matthew Underwood (Logan Reese), Christopher Massey (Michael Barret), Abby Wilde (Stacey Dillsen) and Jack Salvatore (Mark Del Figgalo) will all be returning for Zoey 102.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know the film will see Zoey and co reunite for a wedding in the present day.
