Emergency Crews Surround Diverted Singapore Airlines Plane After Deadly Turbulence

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after a Singapore Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok on Tuesday, May 21, following severe turbulence during which one passenger died and several were injured.

The flight was headed from London to Singapore when it “encountered sudden extreme turbulence” about 10 hours after departing, the airline said. The airline said one person was killed and multiple people were injured, with 18 people hospitalized and 12 being treated in hospitals.

A 73-year-old British national on board died from a possible heart attack, authorities told press.
