Emergency Services Deliver Meals to Flooded Italian Hospital
Wetsuit-clad emergency responders delivered food to a flooded health clinic in Cotignola as heavy flooding continued in northeastern Italy on Thursday, May 18.
The Vigili del Fuoco said its service had carried out more than 1,700 rescues and evacuations, and were also delivering meals to patients in the clinic who were due to be transferred to other facilities.
Footage posted by the fire and rescue agency on Twitter showed crews using hybrid vehicles and inflatable watercraft to transport parcels into the flooded facility.
At least 13 people were confirmed dead and more than 10,000 displaced by the flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region as of Thursday night. A red alert was expected to remain in place through Friday. Credit: Vigili del Fuoco via Storyful
