Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham have some big calls to makes as they get their plans in place for the 2024/25 season and beyond. Making strides under the Australian this term, Spurs may well continue to climb the league table if they have another successful summer transfer window.

A squad overhaul is required in north London as part of the changes, with a handful of players potentially departing for fresh challenges elsewhere. There could be quite a bit of movement in terms of the full-backs as two of the Lilywhites' current seven options in that area of the pitch are playing away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan.

So what exactly does the future hold for players such as Djed Spence, Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon? Our Tottenham writers Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest deliver their verdicts on the full-backs below.

Pedro Porro

Gold: The Spaniard has been excellent on the whole this season and there's plenty more to come from him as he develops under Postecoglou. A simple one to start. KEEP

Guest: It's a very easy decision when it comes to Porro as he has a big part to play in what Postecoglou is trying to build in north London. The Spaniard has excelled in the Spurs team this campaign and hopefully that will be the case once again next term. KEEP

Emerson Royal

Gold: Tough one, this, as Emerson loves life at Spurs and Postecoglou constantly says he's one of the best trainers at the club. He gives his all for the club every time he gets on the pitch. However, he just doesn't really fit the Australian's system and at a time when they need to free up foreign player spots, another big from Saudi Arabia could prove too enticing this time around for all concerned. SELL

Guest: Tottenham may be tempted to sell Emerson in the summer if another offer from Saudi Arabia arrives following Al Nassr's failed bid in January. As popular as the player is at the club and the fact he always gives his all in a Tottenham shirt, he is unfortunately not a like-for-like replacement for Porro and you can see the difference when he does start in place of his teammate.

Moving on Emerson this summer, if the price is right of course, could be the best option for Tottenham so they can bring in a Porro alternative. SELL

Djed Spence

Gold: An easier one because Postecoglou has already shown that he doesn't see Spence as part of his squad going forward, first in the summer and then when he returned from his failed Leeds loan, the young full-back was sent to train with the Under-21s. His spell in Genoa hopefully should have helped Spurs get a deal for him this summer even if it might end up being a loan again. SELL BUT IF NOT LOAN

Guest: Spence's move to Tottenham just hasn't worked out and the right wing-back faces a crucial summer in his young career. Now on loan with Genoa, the Italian side are reportedly believed to have a clause in their loan agreement to buy the player for £8.5million at the end of the campaign.

Regardless of whether they sign him or not, Tottenham need to part with Spence permanently as he's clearly not in Postecoglou's thinking and it's probably best for both parties to go their separate ways. SELL

Destiny Udogie

Gold: His excellent first season in the Premier League has come to a premature end but after signing a bumper new contract during the campaign, the Italian is here for the long term. KEEP

Guest: Udogie will unfortunately miss the rest of the season though injury. Like Porro, the player has a big role in Postecoglou's Tottenham team over the coming years. KEEP

Ben Davies

Gold: Davies has been there for Spurs when they've needed him this season and his versatility has been vital for Postecoglou. With more games next season, his experience, homegrown status and ability to fill in at a couple of positions could be useful. However, it's whether the Welshman wants to move on to get more regular football elsewhere at this stage of his career. KEEP

Guest: Davies may not have started as many games as he would have liked but he's still filled in well at left-back and centre-back when called upon. Tottenham are always going to need cover, especially with a return to Europe on the cards for next season, and it makes complete sense to keep him at the club. KEEP

Sergio Reguilon

Gold: Another who is not on the Postecoglou wanted list and after a good loan at Brentford, Spurs should be able to get some kind of fee for him in the final year of his contract. SELL

Guest: Reguilon is now enjoying a successful loan spell with Brentford and it could possibly lead to interest in his services come the summer. Another who is quite clearly not in Postecoglou's long-term thinking, Tottenham need to part with the former Real Madrid man for good ahead of next term as part of a squad overhaul. SELL

Ryan Sessegnon

Gold: Sessegnon's injury-ravaged time at Spurs could come to an end this summer if the club do not take up the option in his contract. The hope is that this surgery will fix his right hamstring as the previous year's operation did to the left but it's a risk to hand him another year of contract unless Tottenham can simultaneously find him a half-season loan move to test him out or even simply raise his value again for a January move for a player who cost them £30million plus Josh Onomah five years ago. LOAN

Guest: Injuries have wreaked havoc with Sessegnon's Tottenham career following his move from Fulham in 2019. As his Spurs contract will expire this summer unless the club decide to take up the option in his deal to extend it by a further 12 months, it could be the right time for both parties to go in different directions.

All will be hoping that the player can get his career back on track elsewhere if he is to depart. SUMMER EXIT
