Emily Bett Rickards may have departed Arrow this week, but could she be back for one final hurrah before the series ends for good?

Fans said farewell to Felicity Smoak in the season 7 finale, following the actress's shock announcement earlier this year that she would be leaving.

However, The CW president Mark Pedowitz has revealed that the door is potentially open for an appearance in season 8 after all.

"Emily was terrific on the show and we believe [showrunner] Beth Schwartz did a great job wrapping up Felicity's storyline [in this week’s Season 7 finale]," he said (via TVLine).

"If Beth can find a way to bring her back that makes sense, and Emily is available, we'd love to have her. Otherwise, I'm pleased by how they said goodbye to the character."

Felicity exited this week in emotional scenes, which ended in a flash forward of an older version of the character.

Writing when she initially announced her exit, Rickards said: "Felicity and I are a very tight two, but after one through seven we will be saying goodbye to you.

"I thank you all for the time we’ve shared, the elevators we have climbed, the monsters we have faced and scared, and the burgers we have dined. I will keep her in my heart for always and I hope that you can too because she would not be alive if it weren’t for all of you."

Arrow airs on The CW in the US, and Sky One and NOW TV in the UK.
