Eminem's Houdini hits No.1 in UK Official Single Chart with largest 2024 debut beating Taylor Swift
Eminem has achieved the largest opening week for a single in 2024 to date, with "Houdini" becoming his eleventh single to reach Official Number 1 in the UK.
Following five weeks at the top, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso has been bumped to Number 2, with it also beating Taylor Swift's latest single, Fortnight, which was released on April 19 of this year.
The lead single from his forthcoming 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), signifies the US rapper's first UK chart-topper since Godzilla in 2020, which featured the late Juice WRLD. His latest single has secured the UK's number one position with 104,800 chart units, including 13.3 million streams this week.
Not only that, but Eminem's Houdini, becomes his first single with no featured artists to hit Number 1 in 19 years since Like Toy Soldiers topped the chart in 2005. Houdini also marks the biggest opening week of video streams (4m) since Adele’s Easy On Me in October 2021 (4.58m), according to the Official Charts.
