Emmerdale airs Angelica King's sentencing in death storyline

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has revealed Angelica King's sentencing in the death of Heath Hope.

Angel recently pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving over a New Year car accident where her friend Heath was tragically killed.

As the time has ticked down to Angelica's sentencing hearing, her family have struggled with the reality that she would have to serve a custodial sentence at a Young Offenders facility.

In Wednesday's (March 13) episode, there was an emotional scene as Angelica had to say goodbye to her siblings and asked brother Carl to look after her stuffed bunny.

The family were loading up their car when Bob Hope came by with Wendy Posner to wish Angelica well, with Bob telling her: "I hope they're not too tough on you."

After Angelica gave Bob an apology letter, Brenda Walker assured Bob that Heath would be proud of the way he's tried to forgive Angel.

Once the hearing got under way, the judge announced that Angelica would receive a lighter sentence for pleading guilty — but she'd still have to serve eight months in custody.

The soap cut back to Jimmy and Nicola as they arrived home after the sentencing, where Nicola broke down while clutching Angel's stuffed bunny.

Cast member Nicola Wheeler recently confirmed that Angelica's sentencing is only the beginning of a long and difficult road for the Kings.

"I don't think they'll cope well, but they do have Carl and Elliot to consider – they do have two other children," she told Digital Spy and other media recently.

"Initially Nicola starts to lash out because she can't cope but Jimmy gives her a stern talking-to and says: 'This is what it is. We have to deal with it'."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
