The following article contains discussion of sexual assault and loss of a child.

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has aired more disturbing scenes for Lydia as rapist Craig continues intefering in her life.

Lydia has chosen not to share that Craig sexually assaulted her after they'd bonded over the loss of their son, choosing to burn the clothes she was wearing that night rather than turn them over to police.

In Monday's (September 11) episode, Lydia dodged calls and texts from Craig when she failed to show up at his office for work. Lydia told Sam simply that she needed a break and had called out from work.

Sam was worried about his wife, but she insisted all she needed was "rest". He was alarmed when he later found her cleaning up at Home Farm.

When she suggested she may quit Craig's office job and look for something more solid, Sam reminded her she'd said the job with her ex was "perfect".

"I was wrong," she told him.

Sam put pressure on Lydia to keep the job with Craig because Samson would soon be starting at the office on work experience and needed her to keep an eye on the boy

Lydia went home to rest, only to be shocked when Craig came by. Craig once again attempted to convince her they'd had a consensual "one-off", though she recoiled in terror when he tried to touch her.

Craig dismissed his actions as "one silly mistake", and cruelly likened it to Lydia's pregnancy with their late son Toby.

"Our little thing was a shock to both of us," he told her.

Craig tried to convince Lydia to forget their "missteps" and start over as "dear old friends". While Lydia agreed to come back to work, she was still understandably rattled.

He then turned threatening, warning Lydia that Sam would never forgive this supposed fling they'd had.

"If he learns that we betrayed him, I would hate for this to be the end of your marriage," Craig snidely said. "I don't want you to lose everyone and everything, and be left with nothing again. But that is what will happen if you don't pull yourself together."

Lydia tried to usher Craig out the door once Sam got home, but then her husband invited Craig to stay for supper. Once they'd got through eating, Craig told Lydia to be back at the office the following day.

"Onwards and upwards," he chillingly said.

After some hesitation, Lydia agreed: "I'll see you tomorrow."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
