Emmerdale confirms Angelica's sentence over Heath's death

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale reveals Angelica King's punishment next week as she heads to court for her sentencing hearing.

The teenager is due to spend time in a Secure Children's Home following her involvement in Heath Hope's tragic death – but the exact length of her sentence has been unknown up until now.

Next week, Angelica's dad Jimmy and mum Nicola both say an emotional goodbye to her on the day of the court hearing. Both have now accepted the fact that Angelica will be leaving them for a while.

Bob Hope also heads over and manages to offer Angelica a word of consolation, putting aside his previous resentment towards her.

Later at the court, the judge sentences Angelica to eight months in the Secure Children's Home.

Nicola breaks down as she hears the news, wondering how her daughter will cope being locked away for so long.

Once Nicola and Jimmy return home, the reality of Angelica's situation dawns on them as she calls them in a state of distress.

Nicola realises that there isn't much she can do and she feels helpless, before breaking down in tears herself.

Nicola Wheeler, who plays Nicola King, commented: "Nicola and Jimmy are hoping that Angelica's sentence won't be three years. They've previously been told that it could be for that long, but she's given eight months.

"Nicola and Jimmy say their goodbyes to Angelica and she's then sent to Bristol, so she's not local. It was always going to be hard seeing their child sent down, but it's going to be even harder because she's also sent away.

"Nicola and Jimmy come home and they're in complete shock. It may just be eight months, but for them it feels like a lifetime and it's like hell on earth.

"Initially Nicola lashes out because she can't cope, but Jimmy gives her a stern talking-to and says that they'll have to deal with it."

Emmerdale airs Angelica's sentencing on Wednesday, March 13.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
