Emmerdale could see the exit of one beloved character in upcoming scenes after a fire causes chaos among the villagers.

The soap's producer Sophie Roper did drop some hints regarding the episodes last week when she commented: "What I can tell you is there will be fire engines involved."

She intriguingly added: "So take from that what you will. It's going to be a really explosive week of Emmerdale," signalling that the filming for the fiery episode has kickstarted this week.

Set images from the roaring barn blaze depicts Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and new entrant John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) hauling a body out of the fire. Also noticeable is Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly), covered in ashes and grime.

Sources claimed to The Sun: "The soap is pushing the boat out with the big scenes but it looks like at least two huge characters are facing death," reports the Express.

Though Ruby and Cain's spouse Moira (Natalie J. Robb) seem to be at the centre of the storyline, speculation runs rife among viewers suggesting another popular character might be killed off.

On social media platforms, many fans have predicted that Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) could potentially be the victim of the fatal fire, pointing out recent reports that indicate actor Jurell Carter's departure from the soap.

One viewer speculated on an Emmerdale fan forum: "Wonder if Nate dies then... If Cain is involved maybe Cain tries to save Nate or something."

A second fan speculated: "Yeah. I mean, maybe there's a chance they kill off Nate or something like that but even then it would just set Cain back."

Meanwhile, a third chimed in: "Jurell is leaving so it would make sense for Nate to die."

Reports from June have indicated that Jurrell Carter is gearing up to leave Emmerdale after five years. The actor first graced the ITV soap as Cain's secret son in 2019, and his character Nate quickly got caught up in a steamy affair with Cain's wife, Moira.

The Sun quoted a spokesperson saying: "Nate has been at the centre of some huge storylines and his exit will be no different. It will be dramatic and explosive and will go down in Emmerdale history. It won't be one to miss."

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
