Emmerdale fans have praised Zoe Henry for her "brilliant" performance as rape victim Rhona Goskirk.

The actress has been involved in tough scenes this week, as her abuse storyline with Pierce Harris came to a horrific climax.

The soap stunned viewers on Monday (April 24) when Rhona was raped, in some of the most violent scenes in the soap's history. The storyline understandably led viewers to debate whether it was suitable for the show's 7pm timeslot.

And viewers were left devastated again when Rhona subsequently decided not to name Pierce as her attacker.

During tonight's episode (April 25), Rhona went to the police and told officers she'd been raped – but when she heard that her attacker would have to be arrested if she named him, she got cold feet and decided not to take it further for now.

She did agree to visit a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), where trained professionals gave her a medical examination and gathered together evidence which could prove crucial if Rhona does change her mind and report Pierce.

Amidst the drama, fans were quick to praise Zoe for her incredible acting as the gut-wrenching scenes played out.
