Emmerdale sets up Luke Posner exit plot as Victoria Barton dumps him

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale looked to be setting up Luke Posner's exit plot in tonight's episode after Victoria Barton called it quits on their romantic relationship.

In Monday's (June 14) hour-long episode, which is also available to watch as part of a weekly boxset on the ITV Hub, Luke's mother Wendy (Susan Cookson) made the huge decision to tell her son's partner Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) everything she'd recently learned about Luke.

This included that Luke (Max Parker) was in a relationship with Stephen, the guy he'd previously said he'd only slept with once, and that he had been involved in a physical altercation with his brother Lee that may have contributed to his death.

Wendy initially encouraged Luke to come clean on his own, telling him: "Real love means being honest, no matter how hard it is."

But when she realised that he was never going to, she took matters into her own hands and shared everything with Victoria.

Having already discovered that Luke had been messaging other men on dating apps in recent weeks, the realisation that he'd lied to her again left Victoria devastated and she quickly confronted him.

"We said no more secrets," she cried when Luke walked in on Victoria and Wendy's conversation.

"You couldn't even tell the truth about Stephen. It wasn't a one-night stand, it was a proper relationship and do you know? Maybe I could have got my head around that eventually but this? Lying about my brother? Treating me like I'm a mug?!

"I can't be with somebody that I don't trust," she continued. "I don't want you around Harry either. This isn't love. Everything we had was a lie and there's no coming back from this. It's over, Luke, and I don't ever want to see you ever again."

Later, Luke informed his mum that he doesn't want to stay in the Dales if he can't be with Victoria. With his relationship seemingly over for good, it looks like Luke's exit will happen sooner rather than later, as he later told him mum that he'll be "leaving tomorrow".

Speaking about why Wendy decided to share Luke's secrets with Victoria, actor Susan Cookson explained that it was a "tough call" for Wendy to make.

"Morally, Wendy has to do the right thing," Cookson told Inside Soap. "Wendy wants Vic to have all the facts so she can make an informed choice about her future. It's a horrible situation – the last thing Wendy wants is to lose another son.

"It was a dilemma that I found really interesting, as Wendy was damned if she did tell Victoria, and damned if she didn't. Ultimately, she chose to stand up to Luke at the risk of him walking away."

All of this week's Emmerdale episodes are available to watch now on the ITV Hub.
