Yahoo News Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy hints at whether Laurel and Jai have a future
Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy has addressed whether or not her character Laurel Thomas has a future with Jai Sharma.
Viewers have seen a new romance storyline between Laurel and Jai (Chris Bisson) develop in recent weeks. So could this become a serious relationship?
Speaking to Inside Soap, Bellamy said that the romance is just what Laurel needs right now, despite the fact that the pair are very different people.
"They're quite opposite kinds of characters – so in a way, you think it will never work," she said.
"But actually, because they're so different, they bounce off each other. And it's a bit of comedy, which is nice for Laurel after so much heavy stuff. It's all very light, really."
Bellamy added: "I don't actually know how it's going to pan out yet. I'm not sure how the journey is going to go, which makes it all the more interesting. But if I were a friend of Laurel's, I'd tell her to enjoy it, and not think about it too much."
The actress also said that she thinks Jai is a better match for Laurel, compared to Bob Hope.
"She definitely deserves it," she added.
"I think she could [fall for Jai]. It's difficult, though, as it's never going to be an easy journey, is it?"
Emmerdale currently airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with extra episodes at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
