Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Samantha Giles has revealed her dream storyline ahead of Bernice Blackstock's exit.

In scenes set to air next week, Bernice will bow out from the village following Giles's decision to leave the soap and quit the role.

Fans will know that in the past few months, Bernice teamed up with Bob Hope to take over ownership of the B&B and the show briefly teased a relationship between the pair.

After going into business together, the soap explored the possibility of a romantic spark between Bernice and Bob. When Bernice attempted to kiss her new business partner, she was rejected by Bob who chose to stay loyal to his partner Wendy Posner.

Speaking ahead of her exit, Giles opened up about the relationship between Bob and Bernice, saying she would have liked the two of them to get together.

When asked if she was sad to be closing the door on the B&B and working with Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob, Giles said: "Very much so! A huge part of me wanted Bob and Bernice to get together as I think they could have made a great long-lasting team, but perhaps the appeal of Bernice is that she is ultimately lonely and unable to find a life partner, as many people are."

"I think she has come to terms with being single, but she's not happy about it deep down. I think she fell in love with Bob but was desperate to try to do the right thing, and for once she did!" she added.

"From a working POV I've loved working with Tony and Sue Cookson who plays Wendy. We've had many many laughs – probably too many – and I will miss that."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
