Emmerdale stars tease post-wedding drama for Matty and Amy

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale stars Ash Palmisciano and Natalie Ann Jamieson have warned that their characters Matty Barton and Amy Wyatt could still face a rocky road after their wedding.

The couple exchange their vows at Home Farm next week, defying the odds to make it down the aisle thanks to a mystery saviour.

The ceremony is almost called off when Amy's mum Kerry Wyatt admits that she can't afford to pay for it like she'd promised to.

Just when Matty and Amy fear that their dreams are in tatters, wedding planner Leyla Cavanagh gets a mystery call and confirms that the funds are in after all.

Speaking about what the future may hold beyond this, Natalie Ann told Digital Spy and other press: "I'd love to see them going the distance, but it's soap and things are going to happen. When things happen, that often tends to make people go stronger.

"Not every huge event rips couples apart, so hopefully when things are thrown at them, they can come out the other side of it. Because it's quite fun working with Ash!"

Ash agreed: "It's nice working with your mate, really lovely and comfortable. You never know what's around the corner and things will impact them.

"With the importance of the story and the representation, it's a solid message there. But who knows?"

Natalie laughed: "We're always here for the drama!"

Ash added that he's looking forward to exploring more of Matty's relationship with Amy and Cain's son Kyle.

He said: "I think it's really interesting because Amy has a son, Kyle, and we're in Soapland so he's actually Matty's step-brother as well! My step-dad Cain has been with my fiancée, so that's a bit of a thing, but we've moved past it.

"It's really lovely because Kyle and Matty have this nice relationship now that is both step-parent-y and step-brother-y, so as a family unit it feels very fresh and very current.

"It's really lovely to see them as a young family finding their feet, which has been really nice. Maybe there's more of that to come, hopefully."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
