Emmerdale's David Metcalfe teases new plan for Victoria Barton ahead of exit

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

David Metcalfe has come up with a new plan to win over Victoria Barton ahead of his Emmerdale exit.

The former couple split up months ago following some legal and financial drama, leaving David feeling rudderless and lonely of late.

In Friday's (September 15) episode, Jacob encouraged Victoria to enjoy a date she'd lined up with an old schoolmate, though Vic was more concerned with the upcoming Hide presentation.

David tried to encourage Victoria as well, assuring her she'd "knock [her date's] socks off" with how beautiful she looked. He wistfully sighed as Victoria headed off for her big night.

The date didn't quite go as planned, as her date was more concerned with posing for photos for his social media than actually getting to know her again.

Suzy Merton interrupted the date to question whether Victoria should be tossing back drinks with such a huge presentation the following day.

Victoria insisted she had everything in hand, before ditching her date anyway when all he wanted was to pose for more selfies. She returned home to report that the date had been "pants".

"He's still fit, actually, but just a bore and way too into his social media pictures," Victoria reported.

David was quietly relieved when Victoria complained that "dating is rubbish" and she couldn't be bothered with it.

"I should have just stayed here with you… it would have been a much nicer time," Victoria told David.

Later, when chatting with Jacob at home, David gleefully revealed that he felt like he finally knew how to win back Victoria for good. But will he actually change Victoria's mind?

It has recently been announced that cast member Matthew Wolfenden will soon be leaving his role as David Metfcalfe after 17 years on the soap.

He told This Morning of his exit: "It feels like the right time. The door's left open, they're not killing me off, I've been promised. I'm allowed to tell you that.

"So who knows, I might be back, we will see."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
