Emmerdale's Faith Dingle gets worrying health update

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Faith Dingle has been given a worrying prognosis in Emmerdale.

The matriarch of the Dingle family is battling terminal breast cancer and, this week, started meeting with a nurse to discuss her options for palliative care in her final days.

Faith was busy planning a party at the pub in Thursday's (August 25) episode where she could spend some quality time with her loved ones.

"It's not just about me. It's a family celebration while I still can," Faith explained to Cain.

The celebration ended abruptly when Faith collapsed with a seizure. She was rushed to the hospital, with the Dingles nervously left to wait for any updates.

When Chas and Paddy went to visit her in the hospital, Faith alarmed them by explaining she couldn't see anything. A nurse was able to sedate Faith in her confused state.

Paddy then had to deliver the awful news to Chas that the cancer had now spread to Faith's brain.

"I was right, it is now," Chas mournfully confided in Paddy. "I always knew we were going to lose her but now it's going to be sooner rather than later."

Producers have hinted that Sally Dexter's final scenes as Faith could air during the soap's 50th anniversary week in October.

"The Faith story is such an emotional and heartbreaking story. It's going to be huge across our 50th," executive producer Jane Hudson told Digital Spy and other media.

"I think everybody involved in that story is pulling out some of the most amazing performances I've seen in soap for a long time. So that's got a huge part to play."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
