Emmerdale's Georgia Sharma leaves village in Rishi death aftermath

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Georgia Sharma left the village in the wake of Rishi’s shock death, just weeks after she re-entered her family’s lives.

Viewers were stunned on Thursday night (July 27) as Rishi was unresponsive on the floor, with his death being confirmed the following day as Jai discovered his father’s body after his wedding to Laurel.

Tonight’s (July 31) episode saw the heartbroken family attempt to come to terms with Rishi’s sudden passing, with Jai informing his children that their grandfather had suffered a tragic accident.

Whilst making funeral arrangements, Jai discovered that Rishi wished to be cremated in India, and struggled to keep his feelings in check.

A visibly distressed Jai was left emotional at the realisation that he would never be able to tell his late father that he forgave him, and subsequently snapped at Archie after being bombarded with a slew of questions.

Left angry at the way he treated his son, Jai walked into the village and tore down the wedding display at the church, bemoaning to Charles that God could deliver such pain so soon after a day of joy.

Georgia subsequently decided to leave the village, paying her goodbyes to the family whilst Jai apologised to Suni and Archie for his demeanour. With Georgia now out of the picture for the time being at least, how will the Sharma family cope after such a devastating loss?

Georgia entered the village earlier this month amidst Jai and Rishi's adoption struggle, with former EastEnders star Lin Blakley stepping into the shoes previously filled by Trudie Goodwin.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
