Emmerdale legend Nick Miles has played Jimmy King in the long-running soap for a huge two decades.

The 61-year-old is certainly a well-known face in the village, having been at the centre of some of the most dramatic storylines over the years. Jimmy joined as part of the fictional King family, with reports suggesting he was originally only due to have a 12-month stint in the ITV show.

He previously told the Daily Record: "You don't become an actor to stay in the one job. I only intended to do a year but I've been very lucky."

Away from the cameras, Nick keeps his personal life fairly private. However, he addressed his 68,100 followers on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

In a rare update, Nick said: "Register to vote everybody. It’s no good hating 14 years of Tory misrule if you’re not in a position to do anything about it.

"Midnight tonight is the deadline."

His plea comes just weeks ahead of the general election, which takes place on Thursday, July 4. To vote in the general election you must be registered, and you can do that by clicking here.
