Emmerdale's Samantha Giles tipped for exit as Bernice Blackstock

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles is being tipped for another exit as Bernice Blackstock.

The actress has come and gone from the soap a few times over the years, having stated that her last departure in 2019 was due to "tiring" storylines and admitting that she was happy at the time for the writers to kill her off.

The Sun is reporting that Giles has decided to exit the soap again, and that it could go either way as to whether she will return or not in the future.

There's no official confirmation (or denial) from the soap at this time, but Giles did state on Loose Women earlier this year that she constantly has the desire to go and explore other roles: "I've never lost that thing of wanting to go and do other things. You know, like the stage, I really miss theatre, because it's like this. You've got your audience there, you're having a relationship with your audience."

Beyond that, it has been confirmed that Giles will star in a Christmas panto of Cinderella at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford later this year, something that Coronation Street and Emmerdale actors are not usually allowed to do under contract.

It's a similar situation to co-star Liam Fox, who has also been announced for a Christmas panto too. His character Dan Spencer is currently involved in a storyline that could easily lead to a departure with a potential prison sentence being teased in recent episodes after he attacked daughter Amelia's stalker.

Speaking about her panto role, Giles said (via Yorkshire Live): "I am beyond excited to be playing the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre. I'm really looking forward to working with Billy Pearce, the absolute King of Panto, and the Alhambra itself is such a beautiful theatre that I have long wished to work at."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
