Emmerdale star Zoe Henry has revealed she left her on-screen husband stunned when they filmed a 'never been done' episode which is set to air in the coming weeks. The actress and her co-star Mark Charnock have recently been at the forefront of the ITV soap in a new baby bombshell storyline.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, Rhona Goskirk and Marlon Dingle were shocked when they discovered Rhona's ex-husband was having a baby with his new wife, Lucy, with the eggs they had frozen when together many years earlier.

It all started last year when the Dales' vet didn't consent to her ex-husband Gus using their previously frozen embryos with his new wife Lucy after he made a sudden appearance in the village with the request.

But desperate to start a family, Gus falsified Rhona's consent and Lucy became pregnant. Then in tragic scenes, Lucy died in childbirth leaving Gus struggling to cope with his grief and a newborn. Mary was helping him but when Gus did a runner, Rhona and her husband Marlon also ended up caring for Ivy.

There has since been accusations of kidnap after Rhona planned to take Ivy to Canada and while she's been found not guilty, Gus is facing his fate for fraud. But in upcoming scenes, Emmerdale fans will see the impact the last few months is having on Rhona and Marlon as they enjoy dinner with Belle Dingle and her new husband Tom King.

"We've seen how Tom and Belle's wedding night ended with Belle in tears. Since then, we've seen how Tom has started to manipulate Belle and coercively control her," Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw previously teased when speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press.

"This long-running storyline has been really carefully researched and it's going to continue over the next few months. Through the real-life stories that we've been given access to, and the information and the time that we've spent with charities like Refuge, what we've really learned is just how quickly these coercive control relationships can turn physical. That's what we'll see happen next with those two.

"Through our storylining, we've been trying to find new and innovative ways to tell the story. We've got a bit of a special episode coming up, where we do what everyone seems to like by stepping away from our usual Emmerdale format and doing things a little bit differently," she teased.

Speaking about the scenes, Zoe said: "The dinner party, Rhona’s disgraceful. All I will say is we get very drunk. You know that saying, “Sober man’s mind, drunken man’s tongue”? That one. It’s awful." Zoe’s co-star Mark added: "I’ve never done anything like that episode. It’s a very unusual structure, it was a fantastic day, couple of days."

"It was like filming a play," Zoe added. "Only eight characters, it was just great." And both soap stars were quick to agree that their characters’ behaviour during this episode is "disgusting" with Zoe adding: "We’re awful!"
