Emotional Will Smith admits he was ‘failing miserably’ in marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith: ‘She cried for 45 days straight’

Will Smith has opened up about “failing miserably” in his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith, revealing she once “cried for 45 days straight”.

Fresh Prince actor Smith joined daughter Willow and Jada’s mum Adrienne Banfield-Jones on Jada’s Red Table Talk show to chat candidly about their struggles during their 21-year marriage.

And Smith lifted the lid on the moment he knew things had hit rock bottom and confessed it was the “worst he had ever felt in the marriage”.

Smith, addressing his daughter, said: “There was a period where mummy woke up and cried 45 days straight.

“I started keeping a diary. It was every morning. I think that's the worst I've ever felt in our marriage.”

Looking visibly emotional at his stunned 17-year-old daughter, he added: “I was failing miserably.”

Later in the episode, Smith discussed the pair’s decision to refer to themselves as “life partners” instead of saying they are “married”.

Both have discussed their relationship before, with Smith dispelling rumours of a divorce on his Facebook page in 2015.

He wrote that he “doesn’t usually respond to foolishness” but wanted to set things straight after being “extended deepest condolences”.

Smith wrote: “I promise you all - if I ever decide to divorce my Queen - I SWEAR I'll tell you myself!”

The couple, who tied the knot in 1997, also share 20-year-old son Jaden. Smith has a son, Trey, from a previous marriage.
