End of an era as North Staffordshire pub and Wacky Warehouse now pile of rubble

A once-popular pub and Wacky Warehouse now resembles a pile of rubble. Bulldozers have moved in on The Darlaston Inn - on the A34 - over the weekend.

The Darlaston Inn closed in 2018 due to falling trade and the site looked set to become a KFC and a petrol station. But both Stafford Borough Council and a planning inspector rejected the application amid fears for pedestrians attempting to cross the A34.

A second planning application - solely for the petrol station - was further rejected by the council. But a planning inspector has since the backed the scheme for the 24-hour petrol station with a car wash and convenience store.

The venue has become a target for vandals in recent years - with urban explorers getting inside the building.
