Wayne Rooney took his place on the England bench for the friendly clash with the United States as expected - with Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate handing debuts to Lewis Dunk and Callum Wilson.

England's all-time leading goalscorer Rooney will make a substitute appearance at Wembley as the Football Association honour his international career, while Borussia Dortmund's rising star Jadon Sancho was handed his first senior start,

The Wayne Rooney Foundation International against the United States, where Rooney now plies his trade with Major League Soccer side DC United, saw the next generation given a chance to impress.

While Rooney, confirmed as his usual number 10 on the teamsheet, was made to wait for his swansong Bournemouth striker Wilson and Dunk of Brighton were handed their first England caps in a much-changed line-up.
