The proceeds of a successful charity dress sale organised by local women have been presented to The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS) The total of £8,421.22 was raised by members of Enniskillen Ladies Circle when they hosted a charity dress sale in Enniskillen last year.

Chairwoman of Enniskillen Ladies Circle, Carol Moore said: “We support a charity every year and raise awareness and fundraising efforts.

“SANDS was chosen 2023-2024 as members had close connections with the charity following the loss of precious babies.”

Explaining the decision to have a charity dress sale which can be seen as a rather unusual fundraising idea, Carol said: “ “We decided on a Dress sale as we know women have generally too many clothes including many dresses that have only been worn a few times. Vinted and second-hand clothing is encouraged now so we decided to try our own 'one-day charity dress sale'.

“We collected dresses for about 10 weeks prior by advertising for any unwanted, beloved dresses and had our sale on 8th October.

“We had around 1,800-2,000 dresses of all sizes and styles.”

Reflecting on the sale, Carol said: “The day itself was such a success, full of laughter and lots of emotion. It was lovely to hear people delighted with their bargains and emotional to hear of others' connections to SANDS.  “SANDS is an amazing charity that supports anyone affected by the loss of a baby.”
