Enzo Maresca’s decision to leave Leicester City for Chelsea has been described as “mad”.

Maresca departed the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge earlier this month, after only one season in charge of the Foxes, leading them back to the Premier League as Championship champions. City will face Maresca’s new club on home soil in the league on November 23, as the new fixtures were confirmed on Tuesday, and will travel to Stamford Bridge on March 8.

Speaking about Maresca’s exit, former Foxes player Danny Simpson told SportsBoom.com : “It’s a bit mad to be honest, I was surprised he left. I just don’t know why you’d want to leave such a great club.

“He’s got them promoted as champions and he’s got everything there to be successful. No disrespect to Chelsea, but look at the foundations at Leicester, the training ground and the facilities.

“But we all know what it’s like whether you’re a player or a manager, a bigger club comes calling and you get tempted.”
