Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been in direct contact with rumoured target Joshua Zirkzee, according to reports.

Sky Sport Italia has claimed that the Bologna talisman has emerged as United's top target in attack as the Dutchman looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

The Old Trafford club are looking to improve their forward line this summer, and the 23-year-old has emerged as an option. Zirkzee was a catalyst for the Serie A, as they secured Champions League qualification for the first time since 1964 after contributing 11 goals and five assists.

In their report, the outlet has suggested that United are a serious threat to AC Milan, who are also said to be in the hunt to sign the former Bayern Munich talent. Speculation suggests that Zirkzee has a €40million (£33m) release clause in his current deal, and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, demands €15million (£12m) on top of that as commission.

United's rumoured interest is said to have had an effect on Milan's pursuit. It has been said that Ten Hag has been in direct contact with the Holland international, who is currently with Ronald Koeman's side at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Meanwhile, HITC have claimed that United are ready to let star Marcus Rashford leave this summer. Paris Saint-Germain, who have been long-standing suitors, are reportedly poised to reignite their interest in the England international.

The 26-year-old has endured a tough 18 months at Old Trafford, which has coincided with him falling out of favour with Gareth Southgate. Rashford signed a bumper deal last year and is recognised as a senior member of the squad, but the outlet has suggested that the club have become "bewildered" by his loss of form.

PSG are reportedly ready to relaunch their offensive to lure the academy graduate to the French capital, and the club have reportedly told intermediaries that they will not stand in his way should interest emerge.
