Manchester City will already have an eye on their next Premier League fixture this weekend.

City claimed a 4-0 win over Brighton on Thursday night to move above Liverpool and into second place in the league table. A Phil Foden brace supported by goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez secured the victory at the Amex Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's side are now just one point behind leaders Arsenal in the table with a game in hand. This weekend will see City travel to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Erling Haaland has been an injury concern for City for the last few games. The striker has missed City's previous two matches with a muscle issue and was last involved in the defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final last week where he was substituted in the final stages of the 90 minutes.

Haaland was not involved in training for City on Wednesday in the build-up to the clash against Brighton. Guardiola confirmed in his press conference earlier this week that the striker was still not ready to return from the injury.

"Erling is not ready for tomorrow," Guardiola told reporters on Wednesday. "It's not a big issue but he's not allowed for this game."

Speaking after the win over Brighton, Guardiola added: "I spoke with him, and he says he feels better, I don't know."

Guardiola is expected to provide a fresh update on Haaland's fitness when he speaks to the media on Friday. At that point, it will become clearer if the Norway international will be available for City against Forest.

FPL currently has Haaland marked as having a 50 per cent chance of making his return from injury this weekend. The striker is currently the most expensive player in FPL across the Premier League at £14.1 million.

Haaland currently has 174 points across the season so far for City with his 20 goals in 26 top flight appearances. That sees the City striker ranked seventh across FPL for points behind Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Phil Foden (Man City), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Son Heung-Min (Tottenham Hotspur).
