A walker suffered severe multiple injuries after falling at a waterfall near Dolgellau. Rescue teams were called and the man was winched out by the Coastguard helicopter, following the incident on Sunday.

A South Snowdonia Search and Rescue Team statement said: ""The team was called out on 14/04/24 at 14:00 to assist a walker who had fallen at waterfall near Dolgellau.

A man had sustained multiple severe injuries. Paramedics were quick on scene along with helimed and helicopter personnel. The casualty was stabilised, packaged and winched out via rescue 936 helicopter.

"Medical personnel and team members were then evacuated out of the scene via a rigged rope system with help from our friends @aberdyfi.

It comes after a man died after falling into a waterfall in a remote valley in Eryri (Snowdonia) last week. His brother raised the alarm after pulling him from the water. They’d been walking in Cwm Llafar, a wilderness of rocks and marshland in the Carneddau range near Bethesda, when the tragedy happened.
