Dick and Angel Strawbridge have announced that it's the "end of an era" as their eldest child, Arthur, 11, prepares for his final week at primary school.

In the latest episode of their podcast, Dick and Angel's Chat... Eau, Angel revealed it had been "quite an exciting week", prompting her husband to add: "We have come to the end! It is the end of an era within the family."

Angel was moved to tears by the thought, saying: "Oh don't make me cry, I'm in a good place."

Dick then reminisced about the final days of school when children could finally relax and enjoy their summer holidays with family.

Explaining what had stirred their emotions, she continued: "I think that we are at the end of that kind of vibe and it has been incredible. This is the last week of school."

Dick added: "Arthur's last week in the primary school in the village! If you watched Escape to the Chateau you would have seen mummy taking her three year-old-along," according to the Express, reports the Mirror.

He went on to say: "He learnt how to ask to go to the toilet and that is the only French that he spoke mummy took her little boy along and gave him to the class. Arthur was the biggest by a long way! ".

Dick also shared with listeners his vivid memory of his wife having "tears running down" her face as she waved her little boy off into his class for the first time.

After a trip down memory lane, she excitedly told her followers about the "big party" planned at the school to celebrate the end of an era.

The couple's adventures have been shared with audiences over nine heartwarming series of Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau, which concluded in 2022.

Their romance, which has charmed millions, began at a soiree in 2010, leading to the birth of their son Arthur in 2013 and later their daughter Dorothy.

Angel, who initially rose to fame on Dragons' Den, opened up about her whirlwind romance with Dick during an appearance last month on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast.

She revealed: "I genuinely never met somebody who I knew was the one and I just had a busy life. And I just thought well if you're really the one, I haven't got time."

It wasn't at their first encounter but rather at a later event where Dick's cooking prowess became the highlight, that their first significant conversation took place.

Reflecting on that key night, Angel said: "We just sat and talked after him cooking for this huge big party of guests."

"Everyone wanted to talk to Dick, to congratulate him and talk about the food and he just came and sat next to me and we just talked all night."

She continued: "He's so passionate about life, about everything. He's a story teller and he's got a certain energy."

Expanding on his charismatic persona, Angel continued: "Honestly, even now he's got this aura about him of authority. It makes my hairs go on end, he's a very strong, powerful man, that is very kind as well and he'll do anything for anyone."
