Emotions ran high on Escape to the Country when Sue and Rich, looking to leave Northamptonshire for a new beginning in Wales, were also planning to start a business that would include accommodation for guests on their property.

Sue opened up about her motivation for the move, sharing that she lost both parents within the last two years. Rich chimed in with his own loss: "I lost my sister very suddenly only last month."

He reflected on the impact of these events, saying: "It just highlighted the fact that life's too short really, not doing what you really feel like you should be doing. So, now is the time we want to make the move and live the rest of our lives."

Presenter Steve Brown was on hand to guide them through a selection of beautiful homes, all fitting their criteria and budget of £650,000. Yet, it was the mystery house that truly captivated them.

The property, nestled in the village of Marton, boasted over six acres of land, including two paddocks, a vast front garden, an orchard, and woodland. But it was the walled garden that brought Sue to tears, reports the Mirror.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Sue confessed: "It's my walled garden that I've always, always said that I wanted. I'm getting quite choked up. It's gorgeous, isn't it? It's made me cry!"

Seeing Sue's reaction, Steve approached to check on her, as Rich explained to the host that finding such a garden was like a "dream come true".

Responding, Steve said: "Well I aim to please! Not to upset, but certainly please."

The moment came for them to determine the price tag after they had toured the entire house. Disclosing the market price of £550,000 left them visibly thrilled yet speechless.

That said, Steve felt compelled to inform: "I've got to let you know, despite it not being on the market for very long, it's already had a couple of offers on the property so you really do need to think fast."

In their subsequent rendezvous with Steve, it appeared that Rich and Sue had advanced in their endeavours. Revealing an offer had already been made since their last meeting with Steve, they surprised the Escape to the Country host.

Reiterating how irresistible the proposition was, Steve commented: "I was nervous because for every good think about it, I was thinking, 'Oh the house is going to be too much work, this is going to be too big a project despite its potential'."

Rich confessed their plans may require revising their plan to transition completely into the business by quitting their jobs, despite feeling both excited and apprehensive about their decision.

Unfortunately, it transpired by the end of the episode that another individual placed a higher bid which was accepted.
