Jules Hudson was left laughing at one stunned couple after they realised they could afford their 'dream' home. During an episode of the BBC One show, that aired on Sunday (April 14), presenter Jules escaped countries as he went house hunting in North Wales with a couple who lived in Bedford.

Claire and Mick have been married for over 20 years but after retiring from the police force they wanted to leave Bedfordshire for a quieter life in a rural part of Wales. Claire is originally from Wales and felt like she was being 'drawn back to the motherland' and wanted to start fresh after working in the local area for so long.

The couple had a budget of £600,000 to spend on their new dream home, and they weren't left disappointed. After looking around two properties, Jules took Claire and Mick to a mystery house - and they instantly fell in love.

They visited the picturesque area of Llanfair Caereinion, in Powys, to look around a huge house surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

The modern detached family home was a unique conversion and had original interior features. There were four bedrooms, three reception rooms, one acre of land, and exceptional countryside views.

As soon as the pair looked around the property they were overcome with excitement as it was 'never-ending'. Envisioning themselves living in the home, they said they didn't want to get their hopes up as it was "probably" out of the £600,000 budget.

After the tour, they joined Jules in the garden to talk about the price tag. "The big question now comes, doesn't it?" the host told the nervous couple.

Claire nervously predicted the house was on sale for £600,000 while Mick guessed higher at £625,000. Jules then confirmed the cost of the house, he said: "£625,000 would seem a fair price for this. I don't want to disappoint you, which is why I'm absolutely delighted to tell you that this is on the market for £575,000."

Claire and Mick gasped with shock as they realised that they could afford to buy the stunning house while presenter Jules burst out laughing with excitement.

"I'm surprised. I'm surprised at that," said Mick, while Jules replied: "There you go, Claire, it's doable."

Claire and Mick did put an offer down on the house which was accepted. At the time of show's original air date, the couple were waiting to move in.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One
