'Escaped' Scots prisoner traced 'safely' by cops after five-day search

An escaped Scots prisoner has been traced 'safely' by cops after a major five-day search.

Jamie Ross allegedly broke free from guards while attending a family funeral in Edinburgh on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was reportedly attending the service at Mortonhall Crematorium before the huge police search.

An urgent appeal was launched to trace the convicted armed robber.

Police have today confirmed they have managed to find him.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Jamie Ross, 29, reported missing from Edinburgh, has been traced safely.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal."
