Esher and Walton General Election results 2024 results in full as Lib Dems take over

Voters in Esher and Walton have gone to the ballot box in the general election 2024.to pick their MP and it is a Liberal Democrat gain. Monica Harding received 28,315. votes. This compares to John Cope (Conservative) who received 16,312 votes. Meanwhile Alastair Gray for Reform received 4,777 votes.

Monica Harding becomes the first non-Conservative and first female MP for the area in over a century. Esher and Walton ’s next MP said: “You never take anything for granted at all. This has been a Conservative seat for 150 years, so the chance of it falling to the Lib Dems was something we’ve only ever dreamed about and it’s happened today.

“Not only that but I am also very proud of become the first woman elected here. I’m very proud of that, as it's long overdue. The reason for our success was that people backed the Liberal Democrats policies. Our team has knocked on tens of thousands of doors. We have a very clear idea of what people want.

“They want the sewage cleared, affordable social care, the cost of living crisis resolved. They were fed up with the out of touch Conservative government. Esher and Walton, I will not let you down. This Surrey constituency includes the Elmbridge wards of Claygate; Esher; Hersham Village; Hinchley Wood & Weston Green; Long Ditton; Molesey East; Molesey West; Oatlands & Burwood Park; Thames Ditton; Walton Central; Walton North and Walton South.

Ahead of the election, the MP for the area was Conservative Dominic Raab. Mr Raab, who served as deputy prime minister before resigning from that role in April 2023 and announced he was standing down as an MP at this election.
