Ethnic Serbs Protest in Northern Kosovo Days After Violent Clashes
Kosovar-Serbs protested in the north Kosovo town of Zvecan on Wednesday, May 31, amid rising ethnic tensions.
Footage by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) captured protesters unfurling a large Serbian flag in the Zvecan. The footage also shows a strong NATO peacekeeping presence in the town.
Earlier this week, more than two dozen NATO troops were injured in clashes, prompting the alliance to deploy a further 700 troops to Kosovo.
The protests were sparked by the elections of Albanian mayors in three Serb majority municipalities in April. The local elections were boycotted by ethnic Serbs. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
