Eurovision 2024 fans' same observation about Olly Alexander's raunchy performance as issue spotted

Olly Alexander of United Kingdom performs the song Dizzy at the Eurovision Song Contest

Viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest seemingly couldn't help but make the same observation as Olly Alexander took to the stage. The singer represented the UK during the 68th edition of the Contest in Sweden on Saturday night (May 11).

It was a big night for 33-year-old Olly stepped away from Years and Years and performed solo with Dizzy, with the track also acting as his debut solo single.

Following Loreen’s victory in Liverpool in 2023 with the song Tattoo, the 2024 run of the world's biggest music event took place in Sweden, more specifically Malmo Arena in the coastal city in southern Sweden. It is the seventh time Sweden has hosted the world's biggest music event and also happens to fall 50 years after Abba won the competition with their hit track, Waterloo.

Meanwhile, Victoria, the Crown Princess of Sweden who opened the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 live from Malmo as she said: "Good evening. It’s my great honour to welcome you all to Sweden. I hope you will enjoy the show and I wish all the contestants the best of luck."

Olly was the 12 act to perform on the night following the likes of Sweden, Spain, Ukraine and Germany. But fans of Eurovision couldn't help but be distracted by the setting of his somewhat raunchy performance.

@AckerooBanzai asked: "Was Olly singing in the bathroom from Saw? #Eurovision2024." @BigDoots1982 echoed: "Did Olly Alexander get this set from the first Saw Movie? #Eurovision #Eurovision2024." @feverpitch quipped: "Hope Olly escapes the Saw bathroom. #Eurovision2024." @umbrellacafe added: "I just can't get over Olly singing in what looks like a Saw bathroom #Eurovision2024."

And while many were quick to support Olly's efforts for the UK following his performances, others fans were a little confused after noticing an apparent sound issue, with viewers commenting that they could not hear the track.

@ryanw44_ asked: "Just me or was Olly’s mic turned down what happened? #Eurovision2024." @sammylou101xx said: "I have loved Olly for years! But why didn’t they turn his mic up? And that box thing was so distracting #Eurovision2024." @itsamy_xo added: "I think Olly (United Kingdom) mic failed again like it did in rehearsal. I can only hope he did it better for the judges bc that wasn’t his best performance tbh #Eurovision #Eurovision2024."
