Eurovision 2024 semi final countries as 31 acts aim to make grand final

While many people are looking forward to next Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest grand final, there is a lot of singing to be done before then, with 31 acts competing to get there.

After Loreen took home the trophy for Sweden with Tattoo in Liverpool last May, Malmo will be this year's host city, as acts and fans from all over Europe and the world descend on the annual event. As in years gone by, the Big 5 - France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and Germany - won't need to rely on making it through to the semis to make it to the finale, with them all given automatic places, along with host nation Sweden.

That's good news for the UK's Olly Alexander, as his odds on winning Eurovision have now drifted to as low as 50/1, although buzz from his first rehearsal in the arena has got fans very excited.

A total of 37 countries will compete in Eurovision this year and the leading contenders, many of whom will compete in the semis, include Croatia, Greece, Netherlands and Ukraine.
