Euston station delays: Person hit and killed by a train at Hemel Hempstead

Commuters travelling home from London Euston have been warned of delays after a person was killed by a train at Hemel Hempstead.

London Northwestern Railway, Southern Railway and Virgin Trains services are all affected, with disruption expected throughout the evening, Network Rail said.

Passengers are encouraged to check journeys online before they travel as services could be delayed by up to 90 minutes.

Emergency services responded after the person was struck by the train at 1.05pm on Monday.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, police confirmed.

All lines have now reopened and services will be able to stop at Hemel, according to London Northwestern.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "A person has been struck by an train at Hemel Hempstead. The person has sadly died."

"A file will be prepared for the coroner."

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “A person has been struck by a train, which is currently causing disruption to trains in and out of London Euston.

"All lines have been reopened, but there will be ongoing disruption throughout the evening."

A spokesman for Virgin Trains said: "We're advising customers to check before they travel and be aware of the delays caused by this ongoing issue. Up-to-date travel information is available on our website and via our social media feed."

Southern Rail said: "Tickets are being accepted on London Underground between Victoria and Euston, London Overground between Euston and Watford Junction and TfL buses via any reasonable route."

London Northwestern wrote in a tweet: "Ticket acceptance & road transport remains. Disruption expected until the end of the day due to displacement of staff and units."
