Evacuations Ordered After 100 MPH Winds Fuel Colorado Fires
Wind gusts in excess of 100 mph fueled “life threatening” fires that broke out near Boulder, Colorado, on Thursday, December 30, forcing authorities to evacuate communities.
The National Weather Service’s local office reported dangerous conditions in Superior and Louisville, Colorado, located southeast of Boulder. The Boulder Office of Emergency Management issued an evacuation order for residents in Superior.
Earlier on Thursday, the NWS reported wind gusts as high as 110 mph in the vicinity of where fires broke out.
