Victoria star Jenna Coleman will join fellow acting queen Claire Foy in presenting prizes at Sunday’s Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

Other big names handing out awards at the ceremony include Bodyguard star Richard Madden, Hacksaw Ridge actor Andrew Garfield, Black Panther actress Letitia Wright and Royal Shakespeare Company actor Paapa Essiedu. Wright and Essiedu will soon be seen on stage together in The Convert at the Young Vic.

Foy, who played the Queen in The Crown, is co-hosting the awards with Luther star Idris Elba, who will also be presenting a prize. Another presenter, two-time Grammy and two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone , said the event was “a validation” of the work put in by everyone involved with London theatre.

The actress said she was enjoying her current role in West End hit Company so much she did not “want to go home”. “It is the best, the happiest experience I’ve had on stage,” she said. “I’m extremely happy to be in London, in this show, the experience can not get better, it’s incredible.”

The awards given out on the night include best design, which will be presented by Stella McCartney, and the Charles Wintour Award for most promising playwright, named after the late Evening Standard editor.

His grand-daughter Bee Carrozzini, who will give out the prize, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to present the award in my grandfather’s name. He was the first person to take me to the theatre when I was a little girl and I’ve been obsessed ever since.”

The awards are held in association with fashion label and official platinum partner Michael Kors and will take place at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Sunday.

They will be compered by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and co-hosted by Foy, Elba, American Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour and Evening Standard proprietor Evgeny Lebedev. Past winners include Dame Judi Dench.

The winners of the 64th Evening Standard Theatre Awards will be announced on Sunday. See the full shortlist and follow our live coverage on the night at standard.co.uk/theatreawards. #ESTheatreAwards
