The National Hispanic Media Coalition hosted its annual Impact Awards Gala on Oct. 27, honoring those making strides towards a positive portrayal of the Latine community, both in front of and behind the camera. Hosted by actress Francia Raisa and MJ Acosta-Ruiz, the event honored Eva Longoria, Eugenio Derbez, Miguel, Gina Torres, Jharrel Jerome and Ángel Manuel Soto.
Montclair Film Festival Filmmaker Tribute event
Martin Scorsese sat down for a tribute conversation with Stephen Colbert on Oct. 27 at Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center as part of the 2023 Montclair Film Festival.

New York Restoration Project’s Hulaween Gala
New York Restoration Project celebrated another year of transforming New York City’s landscape and protecting green spaces across the five boroughs at its 27th annual Halloween gala, “Once Upon a Hulaween: Scarytales & Deadtime Stories.” The event honored Clive Davis, Bruce Bozzi and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP partner Krystyna M. Blakeslee, with performances by Chlöe and Dionne Warwick.
Society of the Snow special screening
Netflix hosted a special screening of Society of the Snow at CAA on Oct. 27, followed by a Q&A moderated by Edward Berger with director J.A. Bayona, actor Enzo Vogrincic, author Pablo Vierci, cinematographer Pedro Luque Briozzo, survivors Gustavo Zerbino and Eduardo Strauch, and producer Belén Atienza.
SCAD Savannah Film Festival
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival celebrated its 26th year before coming to a close over the weekend, where Saltburn was the year’s top pick as writer, director and producer Emerald Fennell on hand to receive the Spotlight Director Award. American Fiction was the runner-up, and director, writer, and producer Cord Jefferson was honored with the Breakthrough Director Award. Additional honorees throughout the festival included Kevin Bacon, Ava DuVernay, Sarah Greenwood, Todd Haynes, Kazu Hiro, Jack Huston, Greta Lee, Eva Longoria, Jeff Nichols, Peter Sarsgaard, Cailee Spaeny, Katie Spencer, Hoyte van Hoytema and George C. Wolfe.
37th annual Carousel Ball
Event Chairman Dana Davis hosted The 37th Annual Carousel Ball, celebrating the accomplishments of the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, on Saturday in Denver. With David Foster as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, the biennial event returned to honor Satish Garg, MD, and Juli and Joe Smolen, with performances from Counting Crows, Foster and Katharine McPhee.
GLSEN’s Rise Up LA benefit
GLSEN’s annual Rise Up LA benefit honored Annette Bening and Orville Peck for their support of the LGBTQ community on Sunday. Hosted by Mo Heart, guests were treated to a special performance by Noah Cyrus at the NeueHouse Hollywood event.
SONA Warrior Awards
The SONA Warrior Awards, celebrating the work of individuals known for their high-profile accomplishments within the music industry while honoring their efforts advocating for songwriters’ rights, took place on Sunday with NSYNC’s JC Chasez, Lisa Loeb, Justin Tranter, Lukas Graham and Sophie Simmons.

WSJ Magazine hosted its 13th annual Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art on Wednesday, honoring Ed Ruscha (Art), Jerry Lorenzo for Fear of God (Fashion), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Entertainment), Kylie Jenner (Brand), Martin Scorsese (Film), SZA (Music) and Walter Hood (Design).
