Everton midfielder Dele Alli will be making his Monday Night Football debut when the Toffees take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this week.

Sky Sports commentator Peter Drury announced during Arsenal's defeat to Aston Villa that the 28-year-old would be appearing alongside regular presenters Jamie Carragher and David Jones on the programme. The Sky Sports production has earned itself a cult following by providing an analytical look at the weekend's games before looking back at the guest's career.

Dele has missed the entirety of this season through injury and with his contract set to expire at the end of this campaign, it is unclear whether he will pull on the Blues' shirt again. Speaking in February, manager Sean Dyche stressed he was not going to rush back the England international after he undertook groin surgery.

He explained in a press conference: "We’ll see [when Dele will be back]. He’s got a long way to go and we have deliberately kept him back from it and I agreed that with him just to give him time and give him space, so that’s what we’re doing.

"Hopefully he’ll be back, we don’t know. We’re giving him the privacy that he needs at this time.

"He’s in a good state, I spoke to him recently and had a good, long conversation with him, making sense of another injury is difficult but he’ll come through that I’m sure. He was [okay] when I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago. He was very informed and telling me what he thought."

Last July, Dele spoke frankly with Gary Neville during Everton's pre-season training camp about a number of off-the-field issues he suffered throughout both his childhood and adult life.
