Sheffield Wednesday are setting the pace in the Championship transfer market as Danny Rohl puts his stamp on the squad ahead of his first full season as manager.
Rohl has welcomed seven new signings already after a superb second half of last season guided Wednesday to unexpected safety in the Championship. In have come some familiar names to supporters in this division, such as Jamal Lowe, on a free transfer from Bournemouth, and Max Lowe, who has crossed the city to join on a free from Sheffield United. Yan Valery has joined from Angers, meanwhile, and Olaf Kobacki has arrived from Arka Gdynia.
Stoke City got three deals done early, snapping up keeper Viktor Johansson from Rotherham United, Ben Gibson on a free from Norwich and Eric Bocat from Sint-Truiden - but, like most other clubs, they are now having to be patient. The summer window is expected to change gear next week as Premier League clubs start welcoming back players from the European Championships and Copa America and make fringe and young players available to move out.

There are some eye-catching free agents remaining, including Paddy McNair (Middlesbrough), Asmir Begovic (Queens Park Rangers), Andreas Weimann (Bristol City), Jack Cork (Burnley), Romaine Sawyers (Cardiff City) and Tyrese Campbell, who has left Stoke after eight years. Coventry City ultimately had to resign to the fact they couldn't keep star man Callum O'Hare.
And it has been entertaining to see Oli McBurnie step in himself to deal with gossip linking him with other clubs. The last update from Sheffield United came earlier this month saying that the 27-year-old striker was in talks about a new deal at Bramall Lane.
When one Sheffield United fan posted that his dad had spoken to McBurnie’s father in a gym to disclose some contract information, McBurnie Jr replied on social media: "One of our dads is lying pal.” When a story emerged that Hearts were supposedly interested in signing him, he replied: “Don’t tell me you went to the gym with my old man as well.”
And when he was supposedly spotted at Stoke last week, he replied: "Wasn't me mate must have a good lookalike." He then posted a photograph of hulking bearded Hungary striker Martin Adam.
