The Red Arrows will take to the Welsh skies this weekend as thousands of people flock to The Wales Airshow to witness the show. The huge event is happening across Saturday and Sunday, with thousands of visitors expected to descend on the city on both days.

Attractions set to wow large crowds include live entertainment and an array of stalls for people to enjoy. The event will also be marking Wales Armed Forces Day on Saturday, with a special Veterans’ Village offering stalls and information from charities that support people in the armed forces locally and nationally.

But the highlight for many will be the sight of the Red Arrows who are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, having flown almost 5,000 miles in displays across 57 countries. You can get the latest WalesOnline newsletters e-mailed to you directly for free by signing up here.

On Sunday the historic team will be heading for the Grand Prix at Silverstone and so while you may be able to catch a glimpse of them en route, there wont be a specific Swansea performance.

As well as the main attraction, other highlights across the weekend include appearances from the Royal Navy Black Cats - a four-man helicopter display team, the Fairey Swordfish - a torpedo bomber, and Team Raven - an aerobatic display team flying self-build RV8 aircraft.
