The transfer window isn't yet open, but Swansea City will already be busy laying down the groundwork for what is likely to be another busy recruitment drive.

There's a long way to go, but we're already getting some idea on what Swansea might be looking for this summer. Indeed, a number of names have already been mentioned as possible targets.

Some of already appear unlikely. Others are perhaps worthy of keeping an eye on. And some others are still shrouded in mystery.

Here's a quick rundown on each name that's been linked so far.

Carl Rushworth

There's no question head coach Luke Williams is keen to have the goalkeeper back after such an impressive loan spell last season, but the Swans clearly aren't holding out too much hope on securing a second spell this summer. Indeed, Rushworth is likely to have a number of admirers following his superb spell in south Wales.

Premier League new boys Ipswich Town have recently been tipped as potential admirers, although at the time of writing there hasn't been any movement from the Tractor Boys.

In any case, a decision on Rushworth's future is unlikely to be made until Brighton & Hove Albion find a replacement for outgoing boss Roberto De Zerbi. Swansea might be pessimistic, but it's worth remembering that Rushworth did enjoy his time with the Swans. Could yet be one to keep an eye on.

Marc Leonard

Staying with Brighton, midfielder Marc Leonard is a name that's been mentioned as a possible target for some time. The midfielder looks poised to move on from the Seagulls this summer, with a number of clubs from the Championship and League One.

Hollywood-backed Wrexham are understood to be firmly in the mix, with some sources even suggesting the Dragons are now leading the chase. Recent reports elsewhere suggest Birmingham City are also keen.

Sources at Swansea City, meanwhile, have repeatedly played down possible interest.

Connor Barron

The Aberdeen midfielder is certainly on the radar, having been the subject of late interest back in January. Back then, the Swans had a bid turned down for the the Aberdeen star, who's emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Scottish football.

Barron is currently out of contract this summer, so there's every chance the Swans could well look to revisit the move. However, unsurprisingly, it appears they are not alone in taking an interest, with clubs from Serie A, as well as Scottish giants Rangers, among those recently linked.

Couhaib Driouech

The winger was also the subject of a failed January move, and remains a player Swansea like. However, the chances of a move materialising look increasingly slim. Reports in the Dutch press recently claimed PSV Eindhoven were pushing to complete a deal, while there's also believed to be interest from Sporting and Antwerp.

Current club Excelsior were recently relegated from the Dutch top flight, which has perhaps harmed their bargaining power. But given the level of interest, it seems likely that Swansea would be priced out of a possible move.

Macaulay Langstaff

It's likely that the striker will be part of the conversation around this summer window. For obvious reasons too. Williams is clearly a huge fan of the 27-year-old following their time at Notts County together.

Langstaff has emerged as a prolific goalscorer at Meadow Lane, netting a National League record tally of 42 goals. He has since followed up those heroics by hitting 29 goals in League Two, and is bound to attract interest this summer. Langstaff himself has said it would take "something incredible" to convince him to leave the Magpies. Could that be a move to the Swans?

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji

Reports have suggested the Arsenal youngster has caught the attention of the Swans and Bristol City, as well as clubs out in Germany.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at League One Cheltenham Town, before returning to pick up five goals and two assists in 11 games for Arsenal’s under-21s side.

Our colleagues at BristolLive have since ruled out a move to Ashton Gate, but the level of interest from Swansea isn't yet known.

Alfie Gilchrist

An interesting one. Reports appear conflicted on whether Swansea are really in the hunt for the young centre-back, who's clearly a highly-rated prospect at Chelsea, and might well be available for loan.

Leeds United, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers are all believed to have shown interest. At this stage, there's no evidence to suggest Swansea have done the same. That said, the list of players doing the rounds at Fairwood is likely to contain plenty of names. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that his might be on there.

Sam Gallagher

The 28-year-old has been on the radar of Ipswich since January, and Kieran McKenna reportedly still believes the Blackburn Rovers striker could potentially be a good fit at Portman Road.

Swansea and Luton Town have also seen their names thrown into the mix for Gallagher, who recently signed a contract to keep him at Ewood Park until 2025, but there's every chance he could yet move on this summer.

Again, it's possible he's a name on a list, but whether he's under any sort of serious consideration remains to be seen.
